Russia Launches Massive Drone Attack on Kyiv

Russia carried out one of its largest drone attacks on Ukraine overnight, with the capital city of Kyiv among the main targets. Air raid sirens sounded for hours as Ukrainian air defense systems worked to intercept dozens of incoming drones. Despite these efforts, several drones struck residential neighborhoods and infrastructure, causing significant destruction.

According to Ukrainian officials, the attack resulted in multiple casualties, with several people killed and many others injured. Homes, commercial buildings, and public facilities were damaged, while emergency teams rushed to rescue residents trapped under debris. Fires broke out in several parts of the city, and power outages were reported in affected areas.

Ukrainian authorities described the assault as one of the most intense drone attacks since the conflict began. They said Russia has increasingly relied on large-scale drone strikes to overwhelm Ukraine's air defense network and target critical infrastructure.

Following the attack, Ukraine renewed its appeal to Western allies for additional air defense systems, interceptor missiles, and military assistance. Officials stressed that stronger defensive capabilities are essential to protect civilians and critical infrastructure from future attacks.

The latest strike comes amid continued fighting across eastern and southern Ukraine, where both sides have intensified military operations. International leaders have expressed concern over the escalating violence, urging efforts to reduce civilian casualties while reaffirming support for Ukraine.

As rescue and recovery operations continue in Kyiv, authorities remain on high alert, warning that further aerial attacks could occur in the coming days.
